But the contract the company wants to supply the Army with a nearly identical model -- a deal worth $580 million -- depends on which gun is built. The gun went off on its own, and the bullet pierced the left knee behind the patella, according to the lawsuit filed by Sig Sauer.
"The bullet could have easily killed him," said the lawsuit, filed in Connecticut federal court seven months later. "At no time before, during or after the incident did Officer Sheperis place his finger on the trigger of the P320 or touch the holstered pistol in any way."

Five days after the incident, Stamford police went to Sig Sauer's service center in New Hampshire to inspect the weapon. watched video of the visit, in which two company employees took the gun and ransacked it as the Stamford department's firearms specialist at the time, Sgt. Sig Sauer fought Sheperis' lawsuit in federal court. Another incident occurred on the night of October 1, 2017, in the small town of Riverdale, Georgia, when another police officer accidentally injured himself. Sgt.
